How Leigh grooms
Mischievous dogs are rarely naughty at Skruffs 2 Kruffs, because they settle into a quiet, calm environment that is always designed for their comfort. Leigh looks at each dog holistically and treats them as such.
One dog at a time
There will be no other dogs in the salon, no stress and your dog will not be left waiting or lonely, just loved.
No ties on the table
Dogs are always supervised and we do not use ties or restraints unless needed. Dogs are handled professionally, always with care and with great kindness and consideration.
No cage drying
There is no cage drying here, as it does not give the best result. A cage is in the salon but it is left open for your dog to relax in if needed.
Home comforts
Bring their blanket if you like and their favorite toy. There is always fresh water, and a cup of fresh coffee for you is never far away.
A walk first if they need it
We have a large exercise area within a few feet of the salon, and if you are in a bit of a hurry we will be happy to walk your dog around before their clip.
Informal visits always welcome on request.
A ‘Green’ groomer
Electricity is from solar panels and all grooming products are natural and bio-degradable.
Comfortable and covered
The salon is fully air conditioned, and the business is fully insured.

Because of the holistic nature of the business, every customer is given free advice about health, training, dog behaviour and anything else that helps you manage your dog. All information is researched based and free of charge.
Every groom includes
It all starts with a chat about your dog, and the shampoo and conditioner always go on twice.
- Full consultation/ assessment with owner and groomer
- Brushing, coat conditioning and removal of minor tangles and matting
- Checking ears, cleaning and trimming if needed
- Full bath, washing in top quality shampoo and conditioner (always done twice, more if needed)
- Anal glands checked
- Professional drying technique
- Scissor cut and/or clipper trim to customers request
- Nail clipping and advice
- Health Advice
- Training and Behavioral Advice

Took my dog here today after him not getting professionally groomed in around 2 years, usually he’s a quite a struggle and doesn’t like getting groomed so I’ve brung him to scruffs 2 cruffs today. The results were absolutely amazing, first thing when I came in with my dog the friendly guy made us feel so welcome, so reassuring aswell. Left for about 40 odd minuets and my dog was all finished. Came back to him looking absolutely perfect, with being told he was very well behaved with only a couple difficulties here and there, super impressed with this guys performance and approach! Skruffs 2 Kruffs is a small, friendly and professional home based Dog Grooming business in Newark, Nottinghamshire. It is owned by Professional Dog Groomer Leigh Atkins.
All my life I have been a huge dog lover and have always had a special bond with them from an early age. I groomed all my own dogs, and friends’ and families’ dogs, for over 30 years, so doing it professionally was the obvious course of action and I undertook a professional grooming course. It wasn’t long before some of the dogs I had attended were winning best of show in local Dog Show competitions.
Dogs are my passion. Small ones, large ones, shy ones, young, old, good and mischievous ones. All dogs are welcome and will be cared for as if they are my own.
This is our home based premises on John Pope Way: safe, friendly, and even the Springer Spaniels are well behaved.
